Thanks to funding from John Lyon’s Charity, Encompass is running a new programme called WHIRLWIND – a summer residential to inspire, challenge and connect 12-14 year olds from Harrow and Brent.

This four day programme combines adventure activities, sports, arts and crafts and team games with thought-provoking and engaging workshops to build young people’s confidence and communication skills.

Days will be filled with challenging (but safe) adventure activities, as well as choices from such as football, rounders, glass painting, clay modelling and other fun and slightly more relaxed activities.

Workshops will use art and drama to take a new look at how we think about identity and culture, the nature of stereotypes and prejudice, and how we communicate (“the Art of Speaking”).

Every evening “Chatterbox” (in single sex groups) will be a safe place to explore questions of image, self-esteem and peer pressure.

Whirlwind will be taking place on 22-25 August 2016 at Phasels Wood Activity Centre, Hertfordshire.

To book a place, download and fill in the application form, then send it to Sahdia (details on the form).
