In September, we welcomed Charlie, our new Digital Media Coordinator. Here’s a few words from him as he takes on the role:

I’m honoured to introduce myself as the new Digital Media Coordinator at the Daniel Braden Encompass Trust. I am excited to join a dedicated team and contribute to an organisation that envisions a world grounded in peace, freedom, dignity, and justice. These values resonate deeply with me, and I am eager to bring my experiences in digital media and human rights advocacy to support Encompass’s mission.

My Background and Personal Journey

My path to the Encompass Trust has been shaped by a commitment to amplifying voices and fostering empathy. I previously worked at Amnesty International, where I contributed to campaigns that highlighted human rights issues around the globe. This role allowed me to delve into the complexities of injustice and to challenge narratives that perpetuate division and inequality.

In 2019, I traveled to the West Bank and visited Aida Refugee Camp, where I had a firsthand glimpsed some of the daily struggles endured. This experience left a lasting impression on me. With Israeli extended family, I have a personal connection to the region and a strong belief in the importance of peace and understanding between Israelis and Palestinians. I bring this perspective to my work with Encompass, and hope to make a lasting impact.

My Vision for Encompass

In my role as Digital Media Coordinator, I aim to build on the Trust’s vision by strengthening our digital presence. I believe that digital media can be a powerful tool for promoting dialogue, challenging injustices, and fostering cross-cultural understanding. Here’s what I hope to achieve:

• Creating Engaging, Authentic Content: I believe that storytelling can be a catalyst for empathy and change. I will work to produce content that not only shares the impact of our work but also captures the personal stories and voices of those we work with. By offering a platform for dialogue, we can confront divides and inspire our audience to think more deeply about the issues we address.
• Enhancing Our Digital Platforms: Our website and social media channels are crucial for connecting with supporters, participants, and partners. I will focus on making these platforms both informative and engaging, ensuring they reflect Encompass’s commitment to peace, justice, and understanding. I hope to make our digital spaces welcoming and inclusive, where we can foster solidarity and collaboration.
• Building a Connected, Engaged Community: I see my role as not only a creator but also a connector. I want to foster a digital community where voices can be heard, where dialogue is encouraged, and where empathy can grow. I welcome open communication and I am here to listen and learn.

Looking Forward

The Trust’s principles of empathy, honesty, and collaboration are guiding values I aim to embody in my work. As I begin my journey with Encompass at a particularly difficult time for the region, I’m still filled with a sense of hope. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a cause that aspires to bridge divides and foster lasting peace through dialogue and education.
